von5889 4 Posted October 24, 2012 I was banded in 2009. I didn't lose much weight and i got depress. In 2010 a neurologist thought i was having seizures because my speech was slurred and i wrote like a 2yr old. In July of 2011. I thought i had a stroke, but after all the test, including a spinal tap. I found out i had MS, this explained a lot of things, like why i could no longer take zumba and why i was so depressed and fatigue. Seizures(ok) a misdiagnosis is what it was. Anyway Im BACK and ready to defeat this weight and the MS issues. Had a MRI today and i got my go ahead to get back on track. Im BACK to walking and have a fill scheduled for 11/14. Im restarting my Protein Shakes and zumba soon. My starting weight is 261.3 i will post every Tuesday my new weight. With a lot of praying and support from this forum i know in 6 mos i will be below the 200 mark. Please join me on my journey to a healthy me fighting a chronic illness like MS. THE FIGHT IS JUST STARTING BUT THE BATTLE IS ALREADY WON....POST YOUR PROGRESS ****PLEASE****
DELETE THIS ACCOUNT! 12,703 Posted October 24, 2012 Hi and welcome! I too have Multiple Sclerosis. Yesterday was actually the 4 year anniversary of my diagnosis. I firmly believe losing weight and getting healthy is the very best thing we can do for ourselves. We can't cure the MS, but we can get rid of the fat and all the health related issues that come along with it. I was banded 9 1/2 months ago and I've lost 158 pounds so far. I have to tell you- losing weight, eating healthy, and forcing myself to be more active has helped me more than any MS drug ever could. The National MS Society's slogan is "Keep Moving" and I understand that now more than ever. It's so crucial for us to keep our bodies moving so MS can't stop them. When I had the surgery in January, I walked with a cane. I had to park in handicapped spaces just to make it into stores then use a motorized cart to get around the store. Now, since losing the weight, I don't use a cane anymore, I don't use a motorized cart, and I don't need a handicapped spot. I now walk about 2 miles 5 days a week. If I can do this, you can totally do this too!! Believe in yourself!! Best wishes to you! 2 angel_eyes4477 and von5889 reacted to this
