I just contacted my insurance company today and was really pleased with what they had to say! Next I contacted my hospital of choice and got in touch with their bariatric department. I registered am taking the questionnaire and doing the seminar tonight then it's a waiting game from there. Two week seems like it will be a year to see if I qualify but fingers crossed. I'm on my way to a better me! It just seems that family I have talked to about this doesn't seem supportive. I wish I had more support when it comes down to the bottom line. My husband supports me 100%. Has anybody delt with bad family opinions? How did it reflect your decision to continue on with your journey?

Much love-Rebecca

Yes, but you have to do what's best for you, not your family, yes you will family members not supporting you but when they see the weight come off they will support you than, I hope so for you, but your husband support you than that is all that matters right now for you, I know that you want your family support, they will come around sooner than later. God bless you and good luck.

Hi Newbie !

I decided to have the surgery then let my brother and sister talk me out of it. I was so mad at myself.... But the end result is I have decided to move foward and am now waiting for my surgery date. So very excited.

As I told my family, I will listen to your opinions, thoughts, and concerns with an open mind but I am still going to do this for ME !! They say "Oh you can do this on your own", you dont need this. Well guess what Yes I DO !!

Your husbands support is the one you will need most. Also by joining lap band talk.com you will get lots of support. Everyone here seems to nice..... I'm looking forward to making new friends along this journey..

The bottom line is your doing this for yourself not your family........

Thanks

Belinda

It's about a better and healthier YOU!. You can be a better person and have more energy if you control your weight. Some people will be against what you are doing, let them and stay on your journey. It's a waste of time to try and persuade someone about your choice of weight control. Stay on your track, no matter what surgery you have and follow directions given to you by your doctor. If it's personal support you need from a spouse, tell him to help support your journey in being healthy. We all want to be healthy and not a burden to anyone.

Best wishes and Keep the Faith.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
