MyKdsDad 1 Posted April 1, 2006 MsJoy and I were awakened at 5:00 am on Monday morning. My sister was screaming something at my wife and Joy was saying, I'll be right there. When I quized her about what was going on and where was Vickie, she didn't really have any answers. She was going to drive around until she found where she was. She was at the hospital and her husband had just died from a massive heart attack. Dennis was 39. We started making all the arrangements the next day. Tuesday evening, we were at Vickie's house around 10:30 pm, tired and starting to wind down when there was a phone call. The caller told my sister that our mom was being loaded into the ambulance right that minute and would be heading to the hospital. Vickie said, "My mom?" At the ER we found out, after several hours and tests, that she had a "bug" and diverticulitis (sp). They put her in the hospital. We had the funeral on Thursday. Mom was released from the hospital today, Friday. She missed her son-in-laws funeral, but the church made a video tape and she will get to see that. Right before mom got out, Vickie discovered that she has the "bug" and lost all of her lunch (first real meal in about 4 days). This week has really kind of sucked... ReneBean 3 Posted April 1, 2006 Aw Randy - that really does suck. Hugs to both of you. I guess the only good thing is that the week is over - and you can move on with healing and grieving. My heart breaks for you.
cashley 0 Posted April 1, 2006 Wow! I'm so sorry about your bad week. It just seems almost impossible for someone to die at 39 from a heart attack but I've hard of it more and more. I hope your mom gets better and your sister is doing ok... I know she has a long road, my best friend was a widow at 35 but she's pulling though strong as ever. I don't know you well yet but you & your family will be in my prayers.

MyKdsDad 1 Posted April 1, 2006 Thank you, everyone. As with any death, time will dull the pain and temper our memories. Mom is home, sleeping in her own bed tonight. Two of her sisters were in for the funeral and they stayed an extra night to keep her company.
