I had a fairly decent thanksgiving dinner. I spent the better part of two days cooking so by the time the actual meal came around I was pretty bored of it. I am excited to start my journey this year and see how next Thanksgiving is going to turn out!

YAY!! I just made my appointment for December 10th!! I'm very excited but nervous at the same time. I am so committed to this but I'm afraid it will turn out like every other weight loss attempt. Am I alone?

I can't speak for everyone else...but I am can definitally say from my point of view that you are not alone. I have had those very same thoughts. I keep telling myself that this time will be different...Positive self talk and all that...I am new to this site but I can tell you that I have found it easy to stay motivated and reassured that this will be the last time I will be over weight.

Does anyone know the rules on coffee and preop diet? I start mine on Wednesday for Dec 12 surgery. It's food-based, not liquids. So 1,000 calories a day...8oz lean Protein, 2 fruits, 2 veggies, etc. I'm seeing my surgeon Tuesday for my preop appt but want to start the diet Monday since its the beginning of the week. And if coffee is a no no it's going to be hard!

My nutritionist said coffee and tea are fine in moderation, but to be sure to drink a glass of Water for every cup you have.

So far so good. Totally had to remove myself from anyone that is eating! I just leave the room while my husband and son eat! Just trying to stay busy! My house is super clean and all of the laundry is done! Lol

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
