lookinfwd 2 Posted October 23, 2012 Had surgery 9/10/12. since then I was feeling full after eating maybe a salad or piece a piece of chicken breast. Never had a an episode of getting stuck just eating well. I got my first fill last week and it turns out my doctor had filled me to 5.2 during surery. So just got .8cc more. Now i feel hungry more often. My next fill is scheduled for next month. Should I call to have it sooner or just wait?? And is this normal?
DELETE THIS ACCOUNT! 12,703 Posted October 23, 2012 Yes, it's very normal, in fact it takes most people multiple fills before having adequate Fluid in their band. One thing though, you shouldn't be eating til full or looking for a full feeling. Here's a good link that explains it: http://drsimpson.net/fills/Lap-band-eating/lap-band-not-restriction/lap-band-and-restriction.html Best wishes to you. zinhaa 363 Posted October 23, 2012 a fill can take up to like 2 weeks to kick in. Be patient. wendy
honk 780 Posted October 23, 2012 Yes it can take up to 2 weeks for a fill to take affect. 5.2 is a huge surgery fill. Took me 6 months of fills to get restriction. Also as mentioned above some of us get a feeling of satiation vs "full". This is why my preop meetings with a eating disorder therapist were really helpful. Don't expect the band to give you the full feeling you are used to. It doesn't work that way. Also remember even with the band you need to be able to eat 3 oz of Protein and 1/2 cup or more of veggies and or fruit each meal.
Wgbem 138 Posted October 23, 2012 I got 3cc after post op week 3 and I am not feeling as full as I thought I would. I feel like I need more restriction.
neenee717 37 Posted October 23, 2012 Restriction takes time, can be months. I promised you when you get restriction you will know., also as you lose weight the band loosens. So even if you get restriction and loose more weight it will slightly loosen. You'll be able to tell when you need adjustment when you start getting hungrier and when it takes more to fill you during meals. Also if you're not losing 4 lbs a month, my doc won't touch the band to adjust it
