Need To Know For My Comfort....

Recommended Posts

Hello EVERYONE!!!! I am needing to know if any of you have ever heard of Dr. Keith Wright,MD at True Results in San Antonio,Tx. He has been appointed to be my surgeon for my lapband in April of 2013.I'm just trying to see how he does things&if his bedside manners are excellent in what he does.

I picked a surgeon here in Santa Barbara Ca, that had NO bedside manners but was a great surgeon. Since surgery, my decision of him hasn't changed at all. Dr. Thoman is a great surgeon!

I would do some online research of the doctor to find out more about him. There should be online reviews, comments, info, etc.

Why would your surgeon be appointed? You have the right to have who you want to do the surgery. There is no way an insurance company could appoint a surgeon for a surgery like this for me.

Well maybe I pick the wrong word "appointed" but the true results that I go to they only have two surgeons and when they started with my paper work for my 6 month nutrition visits his name was in the surgeon box and that he would perform it in April. I had already read upon him&the other one & I did want him verses the other one,I felt by what I had read he had a lil more experience to me and wanted to know if someone new more than I did.

Each State has a medical board/license web site. I looked up my surgeon to see if he had any malpractice or reprimands. He was clean as a whistle! I let him know I looked him up and thanked him for being so good that it showed on paper.

You'll also be able to see where he went to med school. Where he did his fellowship and when he received his license.

Well I'm happy that he was a good surgeon for you that was great, but for me with this being such a big change in my life. I just don't want to have a donkey doing my surgery and knowing I will more than likely have to deal with him again, and I want someone who knows what their doing and who is understanding, and that has a clear head for all my question. Because at the end of the day I don't want to end up finding another doctor.

I think that, us as women, need that bedside manner as well and it makes us feel more comfortable with the whole process. I agree for me it is important (as is he/she being a good surgeon). My surgeon is always very understanding but very straight forward too. I have to visit him 1x per month for 6 months and then I believe annually so I am glad I have a good rapport with him and feel I can ask him any questions. :)

Good luck.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
