Jantique 0 Posted March 31, 2006 I had surgery last Friday, and plan to return to work for half days next week. The port site is still tender, I'm tired and haven't yet made it through a day without falling asleep! Maybe during the week I'll get more stamina!
juliek 0 Posted March 31, 2006 I had 2 weeks off and that worked out well for me. The first week I was pretty miserable and the 2nd was very tired so I was glad to have the 2 weeks off.
fiveholts714 0 Posted April 2, 2006 I had surgery in Mexico on a Wednesday. I got homeon Firday and went to work on Monday. Then I took Tuesday off and spent it in bed. I wish I would have taken more time off. I had a harrowing trip back and was really dehydrated. Otherwise I probably woud have done better.
K@t 38 Posted April 2, 2006 It sounds like every one is different and there is really no way to tell how much time we need. I'm having my surgery on April 26th (Wednesday) and returning to work on May 2 (Tuesday) so I'm getting just one day short of a week. I teach also, but I can sit behind the desk if I need to. I'm just hoping that the time will be enough for me.
seminole 0 Posted April 2, 2006 I am planning to have surgery on a Tuesday and fly home on a Saturday and back to work on Monday. I also work in an office so I can just have to get up and down from my desk. I was wondering if anyone sits at a desk with arm rest. Will the arm rest be up against the port? Ms. Vicki 0 Posted April 4, 2006 I had my surgery on Monday and was off work for 2 weeks. The surgery itself was not a problem for me. It was the gas that settled in my neck and shoulder. It took 2 weeks to go away. I still had some pains occasionally for a month after surgery. (I have a desk job)
missy4gordon 0 Posted April 4, 2006 I was wondering if anyone sits at a desk with arm rest. Will the arm rest be up against the port? Tabon My port is positioned a few inches above my belly button so the arm rest on my chair is no where near it. Good luck with your surgery!!!:clap2:
karenj 0 Posted April 4, 2006 I had surgery on Friday, was home that afternoon, and back to work on monday. i too have a desk job and it was no big deal... i was back playing softball 2 weeks later... best of luck!
KLR 0 Posted April 4, 2006 I was banded on Friday and went back to work on Tuesday. The worst part was the bra rubbing the incisions. Everybody is different. I have a pretty high pain tolerance. This is how it went for me...I got home Friday after the surgery and slept ALOT. Saturday stayed at home but moved around. Sunday, I went to my daughter's softball game & enjoyed it. Monday, I took it easy at home but washed a load or 2 of clothes. Then on to work on Tuesday. My advice is to test your bras a day or two before you go back to work to see which one is the most comfortable. Other than that, I believe you will be fine. Angels 0 Posted April 6, 2006 I was banded on April 4th and will return to work on April 10th. I have had a wonderful recovery i.e. no gas, no nausea, sleeping well just as long as I keep the pain meds in my system.
oneflew 0 Posted April 6, 2006 I was banded on Fri 033106 and was back at work Tues 040406. I could have come in on Mon, but was too tired from a late flight in. I also have a desk job, so no lifting or moving around too much. I havent been experiencing much discomfort, just have to make sure I sit up straight as my poor posture seems to put a little discomfort on my port site. Good Luck! Sugar1 0 Posted April 6, 2006 I was banded on 4/4/06. I plan on going back to work on Monday, 4/10. I have a desk job, but do a lot of running around in my job. I too have had a pretty good recovery, but am very tired and my bra too is rubbing against an incision. I will go to work on Monday and maybe work limited hours... we'll see. I'll keep you posted.
