Exercise Calories On Myfitnesspal

Recommended Posts

Add me to MFP! Trapplj

I don't eat back the calories...weight counsellor said to track exercise in distance and minutes rather than calories and to just take it as a "good for you" that you did the exercise...not a eat for free card.

I log my exercise because I need to see how many times per week/how many cals I burn per week from exercising. It is very encouraging to see how far I've come in terms of fitness/activity. I love it

But I ignore the extra calories they add.

We're working on adding capabilities to our site and app which are similar to MFP. It's designed with Lap-Band and other Bariatric members in mind. Do you have any suggestions on features you're unhappy with or would like to see changed or added within MFP ?

I am an avid user of MFP.

The biggest issues with MFP are:

1. The daily caloric goals aren't realistic for WLS patients. When i set the daily limits to the numbers recommended by my dietitian, it tells me that I am taking in too few calories and i need to increase my calories. It always shows that I am over my daily limits for Protein and always under for carbs. Have parameters set to dietitian or doctor recommended general levels based on type of WLS.

2. Need better exercise values and categories. I believe strongly that calories burned from exercise are always way too high in MFP so I always take the numbers with a grain of salt. I use them as guidelines, not reality of calories burned.

Thanks for asking our opinion.

This is great news! I would love to see better trackers for carbs and nutrients. Also more categories for exercise. MFP doesn't recognize mini trampoline which many of us have to use to get started with exercise at home.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
