Vomiting At Night

Recommended Posts

A month ago I developed acid reflux, never had a problem b4, Doc prescribes me nexium. A wk ago I go for a fill, & since my fill it seems like I vomiting at night. Late in the night 2/3 am well after I've consumed anything and its mainly liquid. Could be too tight or reflux worst bc of fill?

I am not trying to diagnose or scare you, but I had the very same symptoms and mine was due to a slipped band. I had the saline removed and the symptoms were immediately gone. I have just been rebanded a few days ago. I would definately get this checked out. If nothing else, you are harming your esophogus every time you reflux and vomit. Perhaps you are just too tight. Good luck to you.

You need to go back and see your doctor, sounds like your a little tight. Danger is aspiration from the reflux and too much acid in stomach may create an ulceration in the lining of your stomach. Call the office next week.

Thx for the replies. I go to the doc Tuesday. As far as a slip, you hear all the stories... Not good! I pray that's not it, any other symptoms occurred with your slip?

I would never get full after a meal. And no matter how early or little I ate, I would always regurge at night! The reflux would get into my bronchial tubes and I would feel like I was drowning! This is even with 40mg of Prilosec! food was staying in my pouch way too long and then when I layed down, the acid would shoot up. Sorry to gross you out! My bet is that you are just too tight. If this started after you got a fill, then it is most likely. But only listen to your doctor, you will scare yourself silly if you read all these posts and self diagnose! Best wishes.

Wow, glad you're all fixed up now. I go to the doctor tues, first ill have him do a slight unfill, and tell him I'd also like a GI test to check my band for any abnormalities... Hopefully it's no bad news!

I wish you the best of luck and I hope its just something miner. I also suffered with acid reflux, vomiting in my sleep & throwing up in the past, but that was due to being way way to tight :( . I'm getting ready to have my band revision to a gastric sleeve due to band prolaspe & esophageal dysmobility. I will keep you in my prayers and please keep us updated on your progress.

Interesting that your dr would give you a fill after treating you for acid reflux. Seems to me (not a dr!) that would simply compound the problem. Hope you get some resolution and relief quickly.

I thought about that, I really feel like the fill is what made things worst, so hopefully after I get some out ill be ok.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
