I had surgery on 9-6-2012 and as of this week I have not had any soreness.

I was just like you. My port soreness lasted a full two weeks. I even had my pain script refilled once (had to call the surgeon when it ran out). Every person is different, and each surgery/surgeon unique so while one person may feel little discomfort post op, another person may feel extreme discomfort that last a few weeks. Hang in there. It will get better. I actually cried one night to my husband b/c I didn't believe I would ever be able to sleep on my sides again, and that is the only way I can sleep comfortably! Well, I am sleeping on my sides fine now, so I can only imagine you will find relief before long too. It is worth it in the end! Good luck!

Mine lasted several weeks, 2-3, now I hardly know it is there unless I bump it or panty hose rub over it.

I had discomfort for about a month on my port side. The doctor said it is where they do the most invasive cutting (largest incision) and stitching, etc so it would take the longest to heal. Hang in there. What bothered me most was sitting at my desk all day as it felt like it was compressed.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
