Great advice as usual Jean. Read the forums and stick with the positive people. We can support you and also give you constructive feed back that only hurts a little.

Yes, purchase Jean McMillan's book, Bandwagon.

Everything you need to know and then some.

Best Wishes!

We're never quite sure if there's too much or too little of the "then some"....

Gosh' date=' I could write a whole book of tips for band success. Oh, wait a minute! I did write a book about it!

At this point in your WLS journey, i would suggest that you spend some time reading threads here on LBT so you can get an idea of what works and doesn't work for other bandsters, and ask questions as you go along.[/quote']

What's your book called?

Oops I see its right above me:) can you get it in Canada?

Bandwagon & Bandwagon Cookery are not sold in Canada, but can be shipped there. To order, click on the Bandwagon ads here on LBT (a big ad at the upper right hand corner of the page and 2 small ones at the bottom of the page), or go to: http://jean-onthebandwagon.blogspot.com and click on one of the purchase options (credit card or PayPal) on the left hand side of the page. If using PayPal, be sure to select the PayPal Canada option. I can autograph books ordered via PayPal (just specify a name in the space provided when placing the order).

thanks for your interest!

Jean

Well thank goodness I dont listen too hard to rumors!LOL!:

"

Are chronic fatigue syndrome and fibromyalgia autoimmune diseases?"

Chronic fatigue syndrome (CFS) and fibromyalgia (feye-broh-meye-AL-juh) (FM) are not autoimmune diseases. But they often have symptoms of some autoimmune disease, like being tired all the time and pain

this book is available on Amazon books .com

The version listed on Amazon is the 1st edition, which is out of print, so you'd have to buy it used.

The version available from me is the updated 2nd edition.

Examples of autoimmune diseases are lupus, rheumatoid arthritis, multiple sclerosis, Sjogren syndrome, type 1 diabetes. The theory behind the contraindication is that someone whose immune system attacks its own tissues is vulnerable to having their immune system "reject" the band (which is made of biocompatible materials that don't bother people with a healthy immune system).

Medical science has a lot of theories about the causes of CFS and FM (including immune system disorders, inflammation, toxins, neural or hormonal dysfunction, trauma, etc. etc. etc.). I was diagnosed with fibromyalgia about 2 years after my band surgery. When I was writing an article for Fibromyalgia and Chronic Pain Life magazine last year, I asked a fibro "expert" if my fibro could be the result of my immune system rejecting my band, and he said it wasn't likely.

Click on the link and follow the instructions I gave previously. But if that still isn't clear enough, I can give you link that takes you directly to a shopping cart (and pay with a credit card).

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
