New Fill Doctor In Ne Atl Area?

Recommended Posts

I recently moved and it's so far to get to the Dr I used to see. But, when I started calling around NE Atlanta I was told they wouldn't take me on as a patient unless I was basically from out of state! Anyone heard of this? Does your Dr accept patients for just fills? I'm looking for a Dr in Fwinnett

i know every doctor is different. If you have a good relationship with your pervious physician maybe you could ask for a referral to this new doctor who is closer to you home. Some doctors are really funny about taking on WLS patients with out referrals. It is a shame there is not more trust within the medical field. Can you get your old physician to do a referral? You really do need an MD in your area and you need to know where to go for an emergency. Maybe look and see on the internet if there is a WLS Center of Excellance in your area. That would be my choice for looking for a physician and looking for follow up care. I live in Upstate of SC and I think the closet center of excellance to Georgia is Anderson County. I know they have a bariatric physican but I do not know how far that is from your area of NE Atlanta. Good luck.

Thanks maybe I will try that. A shame to be stuck with 1 doc if you aren't satisfied! Guess they don't wanna step on each other's toes either.

I have heard great things about Dr. Hart in the Johns Creek area(north Gwinnett area). My surgery is in Lagrange but I'm not in the Gwinnett area as well. I haven't had any luck finding local support groups or a local surgery that will take new already banded patients.

O his location is downtown Atlanta across from Atlanta Medical Center and he has a North end location but I don't know the exact location. I love his staff!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
