Bye Bye Band - I Honestly Will Miss You!!!

Recommended Posts

Yesterday i went for a check up with my Doctor - coming up to the second anniversary of being banded on 11 Nov

After an endoscopy it was found the band had eroded into my stomach

Result - today a permanent removal of the band will happen

The sad thing is that I am only half way to my goal

I have been a success story for the Gading Pluit hospital here in Jakarta and for chief surgeon and lap band pioneer Dr Barlian Sutedja - a pin up boy for banding in Indonesia

Dr Barlian was almost as upset as I was yesterday. He will be providing the removal free of charge and in February next year will do the gastric sleeving for me - also free of charge

What can I say about this wonderful man and his extraordinary team that has saved my life?

I love them all!!

3 hours until surgery - wish me "bon chance"

I'm in mourning for you! I was banded just a few weeks ago and I can't imagine having to say goodbye to it. I'm glad your Dr is so wonderful to you and helping you.

What sent up the white flag? Why did your Dr decide to do an endoscopy?

It's out!!

7 hours in surgery and recovery room due to complications

Nose drain, catheter, stomach drain just removed. intraveinous drips still in place. Lots of pain - but Im alive to tell the story

Now to recover before Sleeving in February - if I feel up to it

Im not sure if I can go thru this again - only time will tell

Thanx to all for your kind thoughts & messages

My wife and sons just arrive at the hospital after an 800 km drive from yogyakarta to jakarta

they both looked at me and said enuf - no more surgery - and im inclined to agree

at my age -57 - the strain will kill me

after 2 years with the band i know how to eat properly and exercise properly - i can do it myself with proper support from those that love me

it was a life saving operation but the next one will kill me for sure

wish me luck on my journey as i wish all of you the same on yours

i will let u know how i get on from time to time

all the best from indonesia

warren, didin, dira and aryani

(im crying as i write this and not ashamed to say so)

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Had a sleeve in 2017, lost over 100 pounds. Had a DS surgery this year (2025) for more sustainable weight loss. 🤞

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
