Luce3 9 Posted October 19, 2012 Hi Everyone, I had surgery on Wednesday afternoon, it's now Friday morning and I've had shoulder tip pain since I woke up from the op. Just wondered how long did other people find their shoulder pain lasting? because mine is almost as bad as my tummy pain I know it's getting better every day but i'm still super uncomfortable! I find it very difficult to get up after I've sat down, I think I was more comfortable in hospital as I could adjust the bed so I was sitting up right. How long til most people started feeling back to normal?
iammisslinda 10 Posted October 19, 2012 It took about 2-3 weeks for the shoulder pain to fully go away for me but it got less every day. Heating pad helped. On day 6 was when I started feeling human again. But I felt so good that day that I overdid it and then slept for the next 2 days. Take it easy. You just had major surgery. Good luck!! 1 Luce3 reacted to this
MiniMi 1,468 Posted October 19, 2012 I posted about this a while back. There are two causes to shoulder pain, one is gas of course. Let me guess though, it's in your left shoulder right? Well I went for a followup on Monday and my dr told me that the lingering shoulder pain is from the tube touching your diaphragm. It hits a nerve and sends pain signal to the tip of your shoulder pain. For me it was worse when I bent down. It felt like I had Excalibur inside just shoving the sword upward trying to escape. It subsided for a few days but I felt it again last night. (I'm 14 days post op) Do a search for my thread for some comments from others, shoulder pain- revealed is the title. Best wishes to you! 1 Luce3 reacted to this

Best wishes to you! yeah it's in my left shoulder, it comes and goes, but i've noticed that it's worse after I have something to eat, the heat pack is a life saver, i just can't wait to go to sleep every night cause i know i'll be even better the next day. I think I was a bit naive and didn't realise just how much this surgery would hurt! But I know it's worth it in the long run
sandymax 27 Posted October 20, 2012 My shoulder pain went away a few days post op but it seemed like forever. I'm a few months shy of a year banded and if I over eat the pain is back just as strong. It is the pressure on the diaphragm tht causes it. It will pass. Hang in there and good luck. 1 Luce3 reacted to this

This was exactly me. I'm 3 weeks post op and got the hiccups yesterday and still had the shoulder pain. It's not as bad as it was at first, but it still hurts. 1 Luce3 reacted to this
Luce3 9 Posted October 20, 2012 Yeah i'm hoping it'll go away eventually, I'm only 3 days post op, I just can't wait to be a couple of weeks post op so I'll feel somewhat back to normal again. Also one more thing, did anyone feel like they were sort of bloated in their stomach? even though you haven't had much to drink? i'm assuming that's just because i'm still swollen but it's verrrrry uncomfortable! Walking and heating pads helped.
