the best me 6 Posted March 31, 2006 Huh?! Waht's that, 9 days banded and you are eating pizza?!!!! I could just wring your neck! But I'll hug it first. Sparkling, you are healing. That's why your port is sore, you were hard on your newly placed band. You probably haven't slipped, but you'd better get your soon-to-be-skinny-butt back on your doctor's post-op diet right now! Go blah about eating a slice of pizza AFTER you have healed and you will get understanding and encouragement. Less than 2 week post op gets you a small but loving thrashing. Step away form the pizza. Follow your diet like a good bandster! ((hugs))
carlacollins 0 Posted March 31, 2006 9 days out is toooo soon to be eating pizza hon...how could you get it down???? didnt the bread part hurt...I am 3 weeks out and there is NO way I could get a piece of pizza down now???? Pamper your new band sweetie....dont stretch it..I wouldnt think a slip but definitly putting pressure on the area that is healing... slap slap that hand (with love) and dont eat that NO MORE xo
the best me 6 Posted March 31, 2006 Okay, just checked the calendar and it's 10 days banded...STILL!!!! LOL
StrawartS 2 Posted March 31, 2006 I have no problem with you eating pizza 10 days post-op. I don't believe that you need 30 days to heal from this surgery. I would only suggest eating more wholesome foods if you're so hungry. Maybe a turkey sandwich or a roast chicken and veggies wouldn't feel so yucky.
sparkling 0 Posted March 31, 2006 I did need those love slaps hehe... The thing that gets me is it didnt hurt at all... I feel like I never had the band in ..This is one reason im thinking maybe it slipped ? Gosh I dont know .. can you girls shed some light.. Im back on the mushy track
the best me 6 Posted March 31, 2006 Sparkling, you are very fortunate that your post-op is going so well! It's ideal that internal swelling go down quickly and you are left feeling like nothing has happened; feeling like you could eat a pizza. Don't worry, it's most likely not a slip. You are one that won't feel much restriction at all until you start getting filled. At this stage of the game, you need to follow your doc's post-op eating plan and let that band heal. Don't eat things that make your tummy have to move alot. Give it a rest. You need to concentrate on eating things to keep your hunger at bay. Keep those mushies in you, don't worry so much about weight loss, just get through it until you start getting fills and you WILL feel the difference! I'm glad you are back on the mushy track! mini_me 3 Posted March 31, 2006 15 days post op and I went to the doctor(that was tuesday), I told them that I am hungry, and that I can guzzle Water with no problem, and also that I can eat all the mushies i want with no backing up. They told me it was ok to move on to solids. They just reminded me to chew, and told me to listen to my fullness. So I ate pizza 2 weeks post op, no problems. CCBSTX 0 Posted March 31, 2006 My surgeon told me that meats can put undue pressure on the band, during the healing stage. Imagine your band sort of moving along your stomach trying to accomodate that hunk of pizza. If it's moving that is not good. Allow it to heal in place. txkrause 0 Posted March 31, 2006 We all need to remember that our weight loss with the band, is not all about the "magic of the band". It is about CHANGING old habits (food choices, etc.) and taking control of our eating/nutrition lives. The band - for me - is an internal police man that says . . . "Umm, don't eat that. It won't be nice." I think twice before I eat 99% of what I used to eat. Just because I 'can' eat something, doesn't mean "woo-hoo I can still eat this". I try and use my band as a monitor and make it 'the bad guy', instead of feeling like I'm depriving myself. I haven't eaten pizza, sandwiches or rolls since my getting my band in Dec. It doesn't mean I don't want it. I do. A lot!! I just don't want to put my band or my weight at risk. My weight loss is slow . . . but it is happening. And that . . . is good. Good luck. marys 2 Posted March 31, 2006 I sure won't come down on someone for eating pizza cuz I have been there BUT i will say be careful because you are pushing the limits and you WILL most likely 'suffer' the consequences and those can be QUITE severe as you probably have read about. Your internal healing is really important - you may not 'feel' it but your stomach has to work really hard to digest pizza - something the docs want you to avoid as much as possilbe while healing. Think of your stomach like a cut finger - even after it stops bleeding and is bandaged, it takes a while before fully healed - you can bang it on something and it may bleed again, etc. Good Luck
txkrause 0 Posted March 31, 2006 The analogy of the healing finger is a good one.

See this is like me I can drink loads of water. Takes me awhile to fill up on mushies but im taking my time and I am starting to listen to my body when it is full. And I should of added that the pizza was ellios soft not like NY style that I so miss hehe...
