FLORIDAYS 3,040 Posted October 17, 2012 You will surely get strong opinions... this is a lap band forum. I would caution you to seek professional advice and determine with your Dr which one is best for you. That said... I love the band and its has worked very well for me and my situation. Best of luck
PattyGirl66 1,243 Posted October 17, 2012 Hi not sure if I should do Lap band or Gastric sleeve ???? Your best bet is to attend a weight loss seminar in your area. By going to one of these classes you will hear from the surgeon and patients on all the weight loss surgeries that are available. You can ask questions during a seminar, listen to success stories, meet with the surgeons. Hands on is always a great choice to make when thinking about weight loss surgery. You also can 'google' about both surgeries. And as Floridays said, "this is a lapband forum" so you will only get one sided opinions. You can look up the sleeve in other forums on google. You can also try youtube.com. There are tons of information on both of these weight loss surgeries. Best of luck in whatever decision you choose...
Lapbandster 496 Posted October 17, 2012 I agree with the above posters. BUT beware of sleazy doctors!! Many doctors will push you to do the sleeve because they can bill insurance 2.5x more than the lapband and also they don't have to "waste their time" with aftercare/fills. They can spend most of their time in the operating room where the real $$$ is made. (I don't think I would believe this but my doctor himself told me this) That being said, the sleeve may be a good choice for you so have an open mind. Just beware
AggiePaige 8 Posted October 17, 2012 I went with the lap-band because it didn't alter my anatomy in any meaningful way and if there was an unseen complication, it could either be completely unfilled or removed.
