Things I Have Gained..

Recommended Posts

yes, i am losing but i am also gaining....here is some things i have gained:

realization that i need new clothes

(smaller ones) as mine are getting too big (good thing)

that i can walk farther and that means my knees/legs are getting stronger

(another good thing)

i saw a pic of me in feb and recently and my face is smaller

(def a good thing)

goodwill will love my quacker factory sweaters

(giving back to my community)

that i can control my eating (because i want to) and because

of my band and plication (i am so thankful)

that i do not miss/crave some things i thought i couldnt live without

(diet soda, coors lights, chips, cheese its.....)

gained alot of new friends on this forum

realized some people on here dont like me or what i have to say

(oh well. block me please).

but what i have gained the most is belief

i now believe in myself.

my lapband and plication journey has no expiration date.

i will get there (to the weight i have picked out) when i get there.

yes, these types of gains i like.

oh aint you sweet to take a moment to thank me. i was hoping other people would say their gains ..

i didnt want people to say carolina girl you are the bomb. (see i already know this :)

they fold the stomach onto itself (it resembles a baby banana)

and suture it up (to a smaller size) and therefore i cannot eat alot.

very similar to the sleeve w/no cutting. (that is the easiest way i can describe it but you may get responses with different answers). it just helps my band. i would recommend it if you and your doctor thought it fit you. i did not want the bypass and so my dr offered me this option. (but he stressed even though i am having wls, i will need to do my part to help my procedures).

i hope your appt goes well :)

I have gained a world of knowledge about LBS.

I have gained incredible inspiration from those who rocked the band.

And best thing I have gained is the wonderful friends & support system.

So far I haven't noticed any gains but down over 20 lbs (1st time in my life able to lose weight) and have my antennas perked for positive changes!

So far I got my first and only compliment about my weight loss and it felt real good :)

Slightly off topic, but i'm so so agitated from my family. Whenever I tell them I lost some weight I get very hurtful responses "that's ALL you lost"? or "You only lost 24 lbs??!! I thought you would have lost 30 by now"

It's mainly my mother and i'm really beginning to resent this

I'm working my @$$ off to make this surgery work and she's so discouraging.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
