Hi there,

I don't have any pics other than my profile pic. Notice I'm "hiding" behind trees? LOL. Looking forward to not hiding anymore.

My weight the day of surgery was 244. I had it done on 8/17/12, so almost 2 months ago to the day. As of today, I weigh 217.

It's been quite the journey thus far, and I can't wait to get under the 200 pd mark.

Feel free to view my bog with honest comments about my journey so far. I wish you the best on the 31st. I'm sure you'll do great. Make sure you have the essentials for after surgery: Protein powder, broth, SF Jello, SF pudding, heating pad (my friend), and gas ex (as you'll be burping like a sailor)...

Hi sure:

Weight before surgery 317lbs. Height 5 ft 8 inches

surgery date: 12/13/11

current wt: 245.5lbs. loss of 71.5lbs.

What helpes me is taking my MD advice as far as diet and hydration are key, if you don't drink you won't loose. Also working out is essential even an hour a day of cardio at a moderate level works wonders for getting the weight off.

See your MD monthly and be honest about what is working and what is not so the can fill/unfill you apropriately . You need to eat to loose if your not eating right you won't loose if your band is to tihg.

Take your weight loss in 10 pound incriments it helps then to look at omg...i have xxx. of weight to loose . It helps you to stay focoused on your goal. Also as you start dropping the weight get yourself a good belt you are going to need it because for many that first fifty pounds comes off quicker then we think.

come in for support groups if that is your thing and be honest with yourself. and remember it did not all come on at once it won't all come off at once either.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
