Worried About Being A Failure

Recommended Posts

I'm only two week out but man I'm so worried about not doing right and not having success with the band, I have lost 9 lbs since surgery oct3. I'm so worried I'm going to stretch they new stomach or do something wrong, I just don't feel normal yet is that normal two weeks out. I still have some gas pains and I know I should not be worring about weight loss right now but I am

Feeling the way you are describing is normal...you are still newly banded, and are still in the process of healing. This is a time to focus on healing, and not your scale. Your weight loss will come in the months ahead.

Fear of failure is quite common, not just with weight loss, but also in virtually all areas of one's life. You never know what successes you are capable of achieving if you don't make a decision to go after what you want...

Don't over think this...follow your surgeon's instructions and you will be successful.

Best wishes...

ok, have you ate an entire pizza? are you running through mcdonalds??

if you answered n,,,,,you are doing fine. please note i am just being silly but trying to make you realize that

i am sure you are doing fine. sojo is 100% right in focusing on recovery and not what the scale may or may not say..

the only way you can fail is not to try.....and you did that. you had surgery and you are a success.

You had yours Oct. 3, I had mine on Sept. 28, I went for my 2wks post-op visit today, and guess what...I lost 5lbs since surgery and I was excited, cause you r supposed to lose 1-2lbs a week. So if you lost 9lbs in 2 wks, that's a huge deal....remember it took us yrs to put on the weight, it will not come off over night.Be patient and calm, focus on healing n put in your mind that your goal is to lose 1 lb a week....I tell myself the minimum cause I don't want to get disappointed and can get extremely excited if I lose more. Once you start adding vigorous exercise to your routine, the pounds will just shed like crazy.....Don't worry and good luck!!!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.
