Hello!

I'm very new to the process of Lap-Band Surgery. Just recently I am becoming more intertested in having the surgery. I've been overweight all my life; I've tried every diet possible, but I just can't lose the weight. I'm only 20 and about 290lbs. I have so many questions and was hoping someone out there can help me before I go any further into the process.

I have been looking at the True Results Center in The Woodlands, Texas and have read many reviews on Ken Hollis. I'm very nervous about how difficult it can be to be approved for the surgery. I'm terrified if I were to go through with it that they would decline me. (I've never had a good experience with a DR, so i'm hoping that he is a kind man and not to harsh). I've read about the pre-surgery process and the length of the process. Some people take months and for others, it takes only a few weeks? Is there a reason behind that?

Unfortunately, I don't have health insurance. How exactly does Self-Pay work through the True Results program, and do I need a down payment for the sugery?

I know I have a lot of questions. I'm extremely excited to maybe find a way to change my life for the better. I'm ready for a new beginning and a brand new ME!

Thanks!

-Krystal :)

I'm having my surgery on the 26th by Dr. Hollis. Schedule an appointment to meet with the staff. I am self pay also. The staff will talk to you about the payment plans.

How quickly did it take you? And did you need a down payment?

I know everyone has different experiences and it will probably be different for you as you may be self-pay, however, I have had HECK with Dr. Hollis' office staff. Mind you, they have not been rude in any way...Just not on top of things. I had to call for 3 days straight to set up surgeon visit because they kept telling me they would grab my paperwork and call me back...but never did. When I finally did get an appointment made, I called the day before to ask again what time I should be there to meet with Hollis they said they never set one up for me. They eventually found where they set it up. After a 3 hour drive I went in for my appointment where they informed me that he was out sick. No phone call, No nothing. If Dr. Hollis did not have such a good reputation for Bariatric Surgery I would have gone somewhere else a long, long time ago.

My advice for you would be to just stay on them...keep on calling until you get your appointments set up how you are suppose to! :D

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
