Anwyn 0 Posted March 30, 2006 Please tell me your doctor or nutritionist gave you post-op instructions...? Each doc is different, but in my case, I was on liquids for one week and mushies for 2 before I was allowed to try any solid foods. Here is a great thread with suggestions for the different stages: http://www.lapbandtalk.com/showthread.php?t=3995
JanetC 2 Posted March 30, 2006 Congrats & welcome to the band! Post-op diets differ from surgeon to surgeon. Our was Clear Liquids for 3 days, all liquids for 3 days, then mushies for 2 weeks, then add tuna & chicken. By the end of 3 weeks, we could have everything except pork & beef. They asked us to wait 2 months for beef, heh. I see others on the site that had liquids for a month, mushies for a month, then light solids moving to solid (not sure of that time frame). Best wishes on your journey!
mermoore 0 Posted March 31, 2006 Congratulations Shauntil! Glad to hear you're doing so well! My day is also quickly approaching (April 3rd) and my initial excitement is starting to turn to nervousness, which I know is to be expected. Will definitely keep everyone posted! Myemme 0 Posted March 31, 2006 I'm sure you were told it's very important to get in 40 grams of Protein before anything else. Good Protein drinks are Slim Fast low carb/high Protein (20 g per can). You can also get Protein powder and mix with skim milk. My favorite is unjury chocolate or vanilla but you have to order online. You can get Isopure vanilla powder from the Health food Store (I heard was good but haven't tried yet). I have tried so many other Protein Drinks and just can't stand them, but everyone is different. Other liquids I'm allowed are broth, strained cream Soups (tomato Soup, Andersen's split pea is smooth), Crystal Light, herbal tea, Cranberry juice, SF Popsicles, and SF Jello. I usually have two shakes a day and for one meal I have a cream Soup. Maybe a popsicle, that's all I feel like:hungry: . I'm on my 2nd week.
