Is It Weird Cuz I Feel This Way

Recommended Posts

so, i finally got approval & was given a diet plan, but it's not all liquid, i can eat, but have to watch what i eat, i was also told i would need to lose 5-10 lbs, I'm kinda bummed cuz i wanted to do the liquids so i could get a sense of what to expect. I'll only be on liquids 2 days before surgery then of course phase 1 & 2 after surgery.... i know, I'm a nut, lol.... did anyone else not have to do the pre op liquids?

I didn't have to do liquids except for the day before surgery. I did watch my calories and ate high Protein for the 2 weeks before surgery (on my own; not doc's orders).

well, i guess if you truly wanted to do (all liquids) you could.

i did the 2 week pre and post op all liquids myself and it wasnt soo bad

after the first 4 days...but it is really up to your dr and what they say to do.

(from what i understand, the larger the patient, they need to shrink the liver..not sure if this is true or not). do what works for you :)

I only had to do liquids the day before. I have heard some people do half and half who were not told to do total liquids- like a Protein Shake for Breakfast and lunch and then a sensible dinner.< /p>

I only had to do liquids the day before, but then two weeks post surgery I was on Clear Liquids, then two weeks after that I was on regular liquids, which they considered to be Cream of Wheat, pudding, etc. Each doctor is different and I think it's safer to follow whatever your doctor wants so that he is satisfied by your performance. After all, the doctor knows a lot more about it than we do!

No pre op other than 1 day of liquids and then 4 days after surgery.

The liver sits on the stomach so there are surgeons who want the liver a little lighter so that it isn't as heavy to lift. ( at least that was what I was told by the NUT a day before surgery.)

The preop diet when you CAN eat everything is very different from the postoperative diet when you can't and don't want to. So really you are not at a disadvantage.

There are so many variations that it can get confusing. Since your team is gonna get you through this, I'd follow their guidelines.

Well my pre-op was Protein Shakes and Protein Bars and a lena meal for 2 weeks and one day pre-op Clear Liquids. I'm a really big person and they needed to shrink my liver. I would just follow your Dr.s Orders he know you better than we do and he know what he want drom you to be able to perform sugery safely on you. Have a nice day! =)

I'm on a 10 day liquid diet Protein shakes' date=' broth, sugar free Jello, a random egg her and there. I'm also allowed yogurt and cottage cheese which I can't stand its been tough day number 3 is today[/quote']

Did you know that if you heat up cottage cheese it gets stringy? Sprinkle a little hot pepper powder on it and it tastes just like queso.

Did you know that cottage cheese gets stringy when it's melted? I either nuke it and put hot chili powder on it or I "fry" it up in a non stick pan.
