Need A Pick Me Up...

Recommended Posts

I usually don't get discouraged so I know you guys can make me feel better. I am positive I'm in the green zone and don't need a fill - but my weight is stuck and has been for a few weeks. What can I do to feel better or see that move a little bit? I go in this week and I'm afraid of being a disappointment. What to do when your weight is stuck but your band is doing it's job?

I was only banded a few months ago so I just don't want to get depressed over it... I guess at the back of my mind is that fear of failing yet again.

I can relate to your post; I was banded in April 2012; weight loss has slowed; I am going in to see my doctor THIS week to see if I am missing something. . . sorry not to have an answer

This happened to me too! Remember, loss will be slow with the band. Also, don't think you need a fill just because the scale is stuck. A fill is about feeling full. So if the feeling full is working, try changing what you are eating. Are you tracking your food? Also are you tracking your exercise? Try changing up your exercise also. I expend as many calories as I eat each day (close).

Do you feel like your clothes fit better? You will also notice your clothes being bigger before the scale moves too. You are also gaining muscle which weighs more then fat.

Keep trying, it will work!

I can't stand that the fear of failing is always the elephant in MY room, I'm sorry it is in your room too! I know that sometimes when things slow up for me (and I am a newby at this) I look back and realize I'm eating too little! I also know that even if I stall the weight will come off eventually. If it didn't people wouldn't starve to death ;) Dang, look at Gandhi! (I also look for some humor). Seriously thought, it is a marathon not a sprint! Keep tracking, change up your exercise, and look for the little wins, I bet they are there!

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
