Anyone Else??

Recommended Posts

Hi all, I had my band fitted back in June this year... the weight is coming off all be it very very slowly. I've had 3 fills and now have 7.25 in a 14ml.

My last fill was 4 weeks ago and I really felt it was working but maybe not quite in the green zone as yet. But this last week I can't keep anything other than liquids and soft foods down.

Anyone else encountered this? I'm waiting for a call back from my docs but thought I'd just ask on here first :)

It sounds as though your band may be too tight.

The reason you don't think that you are in the so called green zone is because the way it is described it sounds like an amazing state of utopia where small amounts of food leave you completely satisfied for hours. Maybe it is like that for a few but I think the reality is a lot different. Because we are trying to reach this wonderful utopia we end up becoming too tight and that actually means we don't get satisfied, we eat the wrong foods, we don't lose weight so we go for another fill , become tighter and the problem worsens.

I think the green zone is a lot more subtle than a lot of people realise. In fact the way people on this site describe it I don't think I was ever in it! ( It's a bit like chasing the G spot)! Often you don't realise that you were in the green zone until afterwards when you have been too tight!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
