Oh Plz Tell Me.....

Recommended Posts

It's been three weeks since surgery and I was losing really good 15 lbs total and 5 lbs before I go under the 200 lb mark. I thought for sure this was going to be the week to get there. As of today, I have walked 28 miles and didn't lose even 1 lb and to be honest, that's always been the case with me. I use to walk 36 miles a week and never lost a single pound nor got under 180. I still have a hard time getting 800 calories in, but I'm getting about 70 grams of Protein in and around 50 or so in carbs which is what they told me to do. Maybe the carbs are killing me.

I just want this band to work and so far it's been great. I eat almost three cups of food a day and feel very satisfied, so why is the weight stalling so soon after surgery?

weighing yourself made you start thinking what are you doing wrong didnt it?

and it seems you are doing fine.

your words...i exercise and eat this or that..and the weight loss is stalling..

just because the scale is not reading what you want does not mean the band is not working or that you are not doing well.

the first weeks after surgery, its best to stay off the scale as your body is recovering.

the scale goes up and down when you drink, eat, pee etc.......so the best way to judge your success

is by how your clothes are feeling.

I am sorry you feel said that your scale did not tell you what you wanted it to. I am a lot like you. I dont have the band yet but it scares me that I may still not lose because like you I can walk my "butt" off even now and the scale wont move. I feel that is you stay away from the scale and only weigh on your Dr.s visits you may feel better about what you are doing.

I would also like to say that maybe you need to let up on your walking a little. I have saw post that would say they were working out like you but not loseing until they add more calories to what they were eathing.....I would at least talk to your Dr about it and see what he/she has to say about all the walking and you calories intake.

Perhaps you're not getting enough calories. Strange but often true, such a low calorie count could be forcing your body into starvation mode. Try upping your calories to 1000-1200. Best of luck! :-)

I have had some killer plateaus and this is my experience: When I stick to 800-900 calories and do the same exercise, my body gets into a rut. I have made it a point after every plateau that lasts at least 3 weeks to up my calories by at least 200 more calories for a week, and to change my exercise, sometimes making it more intense, sometimes taking a few days off, sometimes just completely changing what I do. Every single time, the plateau has broken. I don't worry about plateaus less than 3 weeks, because I think my body needs time to adjust--even when I'm not losing pounds, the inches seem to continue to come off.

This past week I was off of work, out of my normal routine, and eating what I shouldn't beating. I got on the scales expecting to have gained a few times--so time to face the music. Imagine my surprised to have lost 2 more pounds.

Could be lots of reason like everyone stated. I actually gained back a pound the last 2 days and I know it's cause I'm due to start in the next couple of days and I'm retaining Water. So am I stressing cause I gained back a #, Nah! I realize it will be gone after my friend has left. Anyway just keep doing what your Dr. has told you to do and maybe stay off the scale for a couple of days and you will see things aren't as hopeless as they appear. ;)

Try changing your exercise. Do something for a couple days besides walking. Keep it up though, you are doing the right things!

Tks everyone, patience i guess is the key factor here and of course getting my first fill and those to come.

My doctor didn't give me permission yet to do other excercises except walking. After one month then I can return to weights, etc.

Being a self payer and spending over 13,000 for this surgery makes me stay on track for sure with my healthy eating habits. My hubby said hmmmm something got smaller from above lolllll and I do believe just losing there has helped my lower back pain. This past weekend, I spent 7 hours walking back in forth at two malls looking at homecoming dresses with my daughter. I was so HAPPPPPY to say, I never got tired of shopping as I did a month ago with her. I felt so good....

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
