Baby Food After Surgery?

Recommended Posts

I won't be banded until December' date=' so right now I'm just in the preparing stages. I understand that after surgery, we have to do a liquid diet and then transition to "mushies", then soft foods, then everything. I have recently discovered the baby food in pouches (Plum brand, Ella's Kitchen, etc.) and they're actually pretty tasty. So far, I have liked the Ella's Kitchen sweet potatoes, pumpkin, apples, blueberries (that's all in one packet) and the broccoli and apples. They have no Protein but are low calorie, not processed, real food (pureed), organic, and they have veggies, which I rarely eat. Would these be an acceptable food for the liquid or mushy stage or for a permanent food choice?[/quote']

I never even gave my babies baby food. Homemade is way better. Having said that, you can decide to add unflavored Protein Powder to other puréed items. You don't have to purée tuna if you don't want. Making a homemade chicken Soup and shredding the chicken and then blending it with the broth is great! Most overweight people are malnourished due to poor eating habits. Once you embark on this journey your mind set needs to change and nutrition needs to be foremost. Defer to the experts that you have at your disposal, they are there to help! Of course this is just my humble opinion.

Bet you didn't think that your simple question would cause such a stir, huh?

Take it in stride, we just care!

I can tell you from trying baby food most of them dont taste very good at all. I would try them when my twins were little to get them to eat them but that did not work because i always made a bad face not meaning to.

I know blending meat dont sound good because of the way it will look but I dont think blending it will change the taste, only the looks.

During mushies my doctor said to focus on Protein based foods like low fat cottage or ricotta cheese. I also had Greek Yogurt but used a stick blender to mince the fruit; also a tsp or so of fat free milk to thin it out a bit. Second week of mushies I could have canned chicken/tuna. I mixed it with low fat laughing cow cheese, which you can microwave. Tasted like heaven.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
