Get off the scales! During the first few weeks after surgery (up to 6 weeks before you have a fill) if is not uncommon for your weight to fluctuate. Honestly do not weight your self for a while, this is a journey and you are not going to see those scales move immediately. My weight started slow, I lost inches some months and pounds some months. I thought I would be at goal in a year, it has taken me two years. This takes time and this is a life style change. I know you have read that before but it really is not a DIEt ! it is a life style change, it takes time, dedication and patience. The weight will come off if you follow the rules, learn Portion Control and EXERCISE! Look at my gallery of photos, I posted my heaviest of 252 and my current. But remember it took me 2 years. But it took me longer than that to get FAT!

I started gaining too...not sure why I have followed my dr's advice for diet and I have been walking at least a mile a day. I track all my good on my fitness pal and it keeps warning me that I am eating you fee calories. If someone knows why I would sure like to know, too!!!

Agree w/ lovethenewme. Try not to weigh yourself right now since you're still healing. I hit a plateau about a month after surgery, but I was still losing inches.

Agree. Your body is undergoing a lot of change. Let it heal and just keep doing what you are supposed to do. It will work. I stalled at 4 months out, gained a couple pounds and then headed in the right direction again. I was eating 750 cal a day then, now I am at 550 cal a day. It is diff for everyone. Talk to your NUT all the time!

That is good the advice you have given. My weight fluctuates since I was banded on September 24 but when try on clothing I can see the inches have dropped although I fear gaining weight I am going to take the advice of those with more experience and take this time to heal.

I was banded Sept 20. I am down from 227 to 201. I power walk 3 miles every morning. I eat 1cup per meal of whatever soft food i want. If u up your workout u can use Portion Control but not count cals

Your weight will fluctuate. Please understand I am not trying to be mean spirited.

While you are in a healing phase food choices are still critical. If you choose high calorie foods you will not loose weight. Also, my doctor wants 30 minutes of cardio 7 days a week.

I disagree that you shouldnt get on a scale, measure your food and count your calories this early. I am a big advocate to start doing it right away so you do not gain weight. That doesnt mean that during the healing process you shouldnt take care of yourself and focus on healing but I lost 43 lbs from the first day of my pre-op to the day I started back on real foods.. Had I not watched what I ate, followed a calorie plan and measured every poriton while I was healing that wouldnt have been the case and I would have wasted 5 weeks..

I also believe while you are in the losing stage of your journey you are counting calories and making good food choices. Thats a diet. You dont have to call it that if you dont want to but until you get to the green zone you have to "diet" in order to make progress. Once in the green zone the band kicks in and while you still have to make healthy choices, the band will stop you from over eating. Its up to you what you eat which will directly influence the scale.< /p>

I am 10 days post op and I have steadily lost. I track everything even if it is nothing. I'm only at about 500 cal a day.

I don't wet things down with gravy. I'm not eating Beans and mashed potatoes . It seems absurd to my brain that eating so little would not just melt the pounds away no matter what it is but I know it just doesn't work that way. So it's fish and spinach with Proteins (I'm in the purée stage) for me.

And still until I added 25 min of walking a day at it was only .01 -.04 a day loss. I've lost 22 since preop.

My point is, find what works for you.

I have always logged what I eat, drink and my exercise since day 1. I also weigh myself everyday. If you do this you have to realize that you are going to come across bumps in the road. Take advice from everyone and experiment to see what works for you. My immediate post op instructions were followed to the t. Then as I started exercising more, I balanced what worked for me and discussed things with my NUT all the time. Everyone's body is different and reacts different to the band and it's rules. You have to keep trying different foods to find what tastes good and satisfies you. Then you have to find the balance of strength training and cardio to lose weight with the amount you are eating or lessen the amount you are eating. Find an App to do this like MyFitnessPal. It really makes a difference while you are learning so you can see what you are doing.

i am 10 days post op...i weighed myself this morn, before my follow up appt with surgeon...and the scale said i was down 7lbs...not as much as i hoped, considering that ive had nothing but liquids for 10 days....so,i left the house feeling a little dissapointed....BUT...when i got to drs office and they weighed me....according to their scale,i am only down 2 lbs!! WTF??

before i started pre op,i said that i would weigh every 2 weeks...so,thats what im going to stick to....i know im still healing,dr said my stomach is still swollen.

i started mushies today and will start walking tomorrow...

my point is....for the 6 weeks post op,healing is more important than losing..and thats what you need to focus on...thats what i'll be doing!!! at least for another 2 weeks :)

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
