Anyone go for a while postop without a fill?

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I don't post much but have been trying to read when I have time, so thanks, I have learned a lot from you!! :biggrin1:

I had my band on 2/14. I was told that when I stopped losing and was eating too much then I needed to go back for a fill. My surgeon said he had patients who go months without a fill and continue to lose. I think that is me. I have lost 17 pounds since surgery (plus 14 preop) and the past few weeks it has consistently been 1.5-2 pounds a week. I have lost inches, so I know my exercise is working! I do exercise daily and I usually make my meals anywhere from 1/2-1 cup, mostly eating lean Proteins and veggies when I can. And it suits me fine so far!

Does this sound normal? Anyone else go for a while without a fill?

Thanks!

Kell

Good for you and well done! That doesn't sound like a thing to worry about. I have heard of one gal getting to goal with no fill. It happens. I got my first fill just shy of 3 months after surgery. What you describe above is very good restriction and consistent weight loss. No fill required. Excellent! Keep up the good work!

You have done great so far! I went 4 months post-op without a fill. It all depends on how you are doing.

Over the years, I have read of several people who NEVER needed an adjustment.

Good luck!

Joy has had two fills in the last three months and she says that she feels she could eat more NOW than she could right after surgery. I think with the last fill she is at 8cc...go figure!

I was banded on 2/22 and in BAD need of a fill. I am scheduled for one one 4/11. It can't come soon enough. I have had hardly any restriction since surgery and right now I can eat anything I want. So we are all different.

I have had my band for 8 months and haven not had a fill. I have lost 67 pounds and I don't plan on getting a fill until the weight loss stops completely. I also think of my port as insurance if I start to gain weight.

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Had a sleeve in 2017, lost over 100 pounds. Had a DS surgery this year (2025) for more sustainable weight loss. 🤞

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
