What Makes This Surgeory So Effective?

Recommended Posts

Everyone i heard of getting this done, from friends or people, drop so many kilos and also in a short time.

I hope i can be the same when i get it done next week, but im curious what makes it so good besides everyone saying you simply eat less. Right now im on Optifast eating nothing which is similar i suppose.

Is there any secret ??

No secret. You have to make u eat less the band won't stop you from eating. It's hard word and requires discipline. Best wishes!

as my friend elle said, there is NO secret

if someone goes into this thinking this is a quick fix and they will lose 50 pounds a week,

they are in for a big surprise. you have to help the band by eating (good/healthy/protein rich foods)

and exercise and the most important thing in the world.....you must be positive in yourself.

get rid of excuses and follow the dr's orders and you will be successful.

all the best to you and your decision

I believe it's not the surgery that is so effective, but rather the desire for change by the person who gets the surgery that makes it so effective.

The people who are committed to changing their eating habits to healthy ones for a lifetime, restricting their portions, and following up with their doctors are the ones who are successful. The people who expect the band to do all the work and continue the same eating habits that led them to become obese to begin with, won't be successful.

The band is an amazing tool when used as it's meant to be used.

you have to diet and exercise PERIOD!

if you have the mind set that the weight is going to fall off on its own your in for a surprise... don't ge me wrong

For me it has been wonderful, as a yo-yo dieter in the past it is just what I needed.

I just finished my 7th 5k this year a week ago and look forward to my 8th end of October.

Signing up for them keeps me on the treadmill or out walking, I try to do 4 miles 3 to 4 times a week.

I hope you can lose the weight and have a long healthy life!

Simply eating less is a heck of a lot harder without the band. Granted the time between surgery and the green zone takes will power and a true desire to stick to it before the band starts working effectively .... But when it does and you eat the correct food, stick to an amount of calories so you will actually lose weight... There should be no reason to fail.

You must diet... Or reduce calories ...or call it what you want to lose weight. The band cannot make you do that .... but the band will help you stay satisfied with a minimal amount of food so you can govern yourself a lot easier.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
