I'm Worh The Pain

Recommended Posts

Hello everyone my name is April I've got my band on 6/5/12 and so for I've lost 100 pounds :-)

I walk 4 miles a day and workout with a personal trainer. It's hard and I have to watch what I eat but I'm happy I made this life change. Somedays I don't feel like I'm doing a enough but thank God my hubby cheers me on. Right now I'm stuck and have not lost anything in the last two weeks but I can not give up and I will not give up

Congratulations April!!!

Yes, from what I hear at times after losing a lot of weight you will plateau! Now what you have to do is start playing around with your calories and fat grams. You can try 'uping' your calories one day, going back to your normal caloric intake and then try it again over to see if that works. How many fat grams are you getting in per day? Remember the body needs healthy fat to burn!

I try and get between 25-30 grams of healthy fat per day (according to my age and weight). Also, remember Protein is always first and important to burn fat as well. Have you tried tracking everything you eat daily?? if not you should do so, there are several wonderful apps out there such as "myfitnesspal" and 'Loseit (my personal fav). Its really the only way you will know how much you are eating on a daily basis so that you can adjust and tweak to make it work.

Best of luck,

WOW!!!! Congratulations! !!

I've heard others talk about upping the calories for a day, back to normal & lower than normal for a day, then back to regular calories again. They say it jump starts that plateau.

Good luck, I know you'll continue to do well!

April, wow you look incredible! Congratulations on your success so far. Iris so frustrating when the scale doesn't move. Have you taken your measurements? I take mine once a month and i have found that when the scale doesn't move the inches do. Keep doing what you are doing, you will get there.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
