I see a lot of people using the phrase "pb"ing. I'm just wondering what it means?

Thanks

PB means productive burp. It is what happens when someone either gets stuck due to food or drinks when eating. Some call it vomiting, but it is a regurgitation of what is above the band. It is accompanied by a very thick slime.

I had my first PBing (I think) tonight and I'm not sure why. I ate about a cup of food, went down fine, but then I felt like I was full in my chest and back, drank a few sips to try to help things go down a bit easier, started to hiccup, burped a little, and felt a little different like something was about to come up so I ran to the bathroom and sure enough slime and liquid came up, but no food. Any clue what happened here? Did the drink put me over my limit and it had to come up? It's been about a 1/2 hour and now I feel fine and the full feeling subsided.

If you get food stuck from not chewing enough, or just too much, then drink Water. It will not make it go down like you think. You are blocked then add water to that. It will come right up. Been there done that ALOT until I figured it out. Hope that makes sence.

so drinking Water helps by facilitating the pb? if you know it's stuck?

How often does this happen once you've adjusted to the band and changed your diet?

I understand that this is natural and every banded patient will experience it, but it's like pregnancy - worth it for the baby, but only through surviving a lot of gross stuff to get there...

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
