icestorm12132008 39 Posted October 10, 2012 hi, I use to work in a group home and we had several residents with crush orders. Get yourself a good pill crusher or if it is a capsule that you can take appart do that. pills can be quite bittter when crushed so we would often fold the crushed pills into a small teaspoon of chocolte pudding. . In another home I worked in the nurses would give crushed meds with hersey's Syrup, that worked really well, but again it was a dementia unit. And for one assisted living facility i worked in they would crush meds and give it with some redi wip or some light youplait worked well
Sojourner 2,446 Posted October 10, 2012 I had to crush several of my prescriptions post op for 2 weeks...I never did find anything which could adequately disguise the extreme bitterness. I came to dread morning and evening...but you do what you have to do... 1 ☠carolinagirl☠ reacted to this
Shira 20 Posted October 10, 2012 Would you be able to get any of these meds in a liquid form? If so, I suggest calling your Drs office and changing your prescription. Even tylenol comes in a liquid for adults. Another suggestion I have is to bring one of each of your actual pills to your Drs office on your follow up - show the nurse or whomever sees you the actual pill and get their advice about if it's too big, if you need to break it, etc. I did this and it turns out that 3 of the 4 things I showed her were fine and the other one she said I just need to break. Good luck.

Good luck. Prior to my surgery, my PCP did change the form of all medications which were available in other forms to either liquid or soluble tablets. Not every medication has an alternative form to administer it...and some meds should never be crushed. 1 Shira reacted to this
gottobeme 81 Posted October 11, 2012 As stated above SF chocolate pudding will mask the taste the best. Unfortunately it will not get rid of that horrible taste all together! It was pretty much the only thing that made my meds tolerable.
