Toniburgess20 0 Posted October 10, 2012 What's your experience with them? They are saying I need preauthorization first before I can start seeing my nutritionist. The doctor said they don't submit anything into the insurance until I'm almost done my nutrition classes? Kinda confused!
jlstanfi 1 Posted October 10, 2012 You probably need to call UHC and get permission to move forward with the Pre submittal. That is pretty common, I had to do the same thing, otherwise not all of the services will be covered.
roxa 15 Posted October 10, 2012 I have United Health Care. Although my nutritionist is in network and they approved my lapband surgery, they wouldn't pay anything on the nutritionist visits. So I only went twice to get her to submit the needed paperwork to the surgery so they would send it in to get approval. It was $50 for each visit. I figure if I need to see a nutritionist after my surgery I will go back or maybe find a way to get the insurance to pay for it

Toniburgess20 0 Posted October 10, 2012 I'm hoping I'm covered I'm at a BMI of like 38 so it's really borderline! I have no medical conditions either, but my doctor doesn't submit anything until about a month before I'm ready for surgery and completed the nutrition classes! NIKIMAC 19 Posted October 27, 2012 You should be okay, they approved my daughters surgery and she was only had a 38 bmi. They just approved my lap band to gastric sleeve revision and my bmi is only 31. Just make sure that you have completed all the requirements. Best of luck and keep us dated.
