Hello From The New Guy

Recommended Posts

Just had my initial consultation with True Results in Austin, TX. So beings my journey. Want to also thank everyone in advance here since has been my primary source of information with regards to deciding to undergo WLS, and specifically to go with Lap Band.

Based on my roadmap my surger date will be in March 2013... seems so far, but I imagine time will go quickly.

Anyone else here been to the True Results in North Austin? I have BCBS Fed insurance which will cover based on my BMI, but I am not sure what my total out of pocket will be.

I'm in Cedar Park...However, I am not going through True Results. I have my 2nd appointment tomorrow. Tenatively scheduling surgery early November. I am a cash patient so I don't have all the roadblocks that insurance provides. Good luck to you! Would love to follow your progress!!!

It'll go fast, I promise!! I had a 6 month mandatory wait because of my insurance. It'll fly by.

I am fed BCBS also. If you have "standard" it is 15%. depending on what your doctor ordered for prep tests and the cost of surgery will make a difference. I paid about $2500 when all said and done. The hospital and surgeon let me make payments. I have only had one fill and it was covered by my surgeon with the first 90 days.

The time will fly by! Are you going thru the mandatory classes? If so, you will learn a lot.

Hang in there!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
