I do recall there being quite a lot of heavy pain in my stomach, I was groggy but able to ask for pain relief.

Once I really woke up though, I was fine, it was not a difficult surgery and it was not that hard to move around after surgery either. I was up and on my feet within a few hours. The next day I went home and went for a 2 mile walk.

I was up walk a hour later a little sore but to bad and went home a couple of hours later. good luck

I was just in your shoes last week the night before I went in to surgery not knowing what to expect. You have nothing to be nervous about I'm sure you will be fine..You need to get excited about your new life journey..put all your stresses behind you this is your beginning to happiness and health. When I woke up from the surgery I had a great experience my nurse never left my side..I of course felt groggy but thats normal...my throat was very sore from that tube they put down your throat during surgery..but trust me everything will be fine..within 30 minutes of surgery I was walking around the room (slowly of course) and taking sips of Water. I was out of surgery at 9:45 am and I was home relaxing by 12..You will do fine the most important thing you have to do is WALK once you get home...I am now 6 days post op and I have not experienced any gas pain because I am constantly walking and doing shoulder curls. I stopped taking the pain medication on day 4. However, I have not been able to sleep in my bed yet I just can not find a comfortable spot so I am still sleeping in a recliner. Good Luck tomorrow!!!! Please keep us posted on your surgery !!!!!

Hi all :) I had my lap band placed yesterday... Coming out of anesthesia I was cold, and groggy but in no pain. I was able to walk around, drink etc. what I couldn't do was urinate and that delayed my discharge. They wanted me to produce at least 200 ccs and i could barely manage a few dribbles. It was almost like I forgot how to do it. I needed to go I but nothing wold come out. Finally after many attempts I was able to go and get home. Now that I am home I feel some pressure in my chest and my incisions hurt if I don't take my pain meds on time but otherwise I am fine. Made Breakfast, walked my son to his bus stop and all this morning. So far no gas pains either.

hi, i was banded on fri oct5....for me...the worst feeling post op,was the dry mouth!! i mustve had 2 cups of ice chips, and a gallon of Water before it went away!! you get that from the combination of the anesthesa and the breathing tube....i also had a sore throat for the first 2 days, but that is normal.

i didnt really have any pain that first night, they gave me painmeds right after i woke up and a few hrs later when i went home,i took some....next day,not really pain,,just very sore in the stomach area...kinda like you got punched very hard in your belly!!

now its tuesday night, and im starting to feel more like myself again!

Hi! I was banded back in August and I was also really nervous! But when the nurses woke me up I was must have still been kind of out of it because I vaguely remember yelling out "I'm in pain! I'm in pain!" Haha! But I don't remember actually feeling pain when I yelled that out...must've just been the anesthesia lol! And then I fell back asleep and slept for a good 6-7 hours before I really woke up. They gave me pain meds which helped a lot and then I was sent home that evening. My stomach wasn't too sore when I was at the hospital. When I stood up it sort of felt like my stomach was being pulled down to the ground but other than that it wasn't bad. The days after that the pain was progressively worse but still nothing awful..just felt as if I'd done a bagillion crunches and sit ups lol. By like the 6th day I was feeling pretty good! So recovery really isn't all that bad! Of course, like you said, everyone's experience is different but I don't think there's anything to stress about. Just relax and it'll be fine! Good luck!!

Erin, too funny! I just remember them yelling at me to hold still because as soon as I came to I was trying to grab at whatever was on my face. They removed it quickly though. The dry mouth is terrible and the first night I had a lot of mucus and thought I would die choking. I was banded last Friday and went back to work Monday. I feel fine.

Terrible story: planning this surgery for 9 months. The day before my husband gets a call at 3 am. His mother is suddenly ill, on full life support and he is an only child. They live in Italy so he had to rush back home. 7 hrs later he was on a plane. No one else in my family knew I was getting banded so I had to decide whether to cancel or not. I decided that nothing bad was going to happen to that day so I had a friend drive me there and come pick me up. I went through it all alone. My mother-in-law is still hanging on for dear life and it looks like I won't see my hubby any time soon.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
