I was banded on March 24th in at the Bajanor Hospital in Tijuana. I am returning to work later today and feel pretty good. I am still on liquids and sometimes feel like I have no energy.

I appreicate this web site and all the post because it helped me in my decision and I am sure will be useful in my recovery.

Thank you!!

JoAnne :)

Welcome to bandland! I truly love my band. Keep up on your protien and that should help with your energy.

costco sells protien powder they come in huge tubs. $20 I just replaced my chocolate one so it's lasted 6 months and I really like the taste.

Hi Lori- I have been to Curves before and liked it alot. I am only 10 days post-op and couldn't do Curves if I wanted to. I keep waiting to wake up one day and actually feel normal again.

You will. Although, my sister and I both went back to work 4 days after surgery. You won't start to feel normal until you are able to eat regular food again. You should be able to do curves in a week or so. yOu may feel much better in another week. Just remember how good it's GOING to feel after you loose the weight. Focus on that.

Joanne,

I was banded 0n 3/18/06 and I am just starting to feel better. I also went back to work after 5 days, and I noticed on monday that I am able to lay on the side that my port is on. Please make sure you are getting enough Protein I drink the low carb slim fast. It has 15gms of Protein per can. Alos drink your Water and take your Vitamin. Hope this helps! Just give it some time, you will be amazed at the difference a week will make.

Hi JoAnne! Welcome to Bandland!

Be sure to rest all you can. Although its a fairly minimally invasive surgery, it's still surgery and there's quite a bit of healing that needs to be done which will sap your energy. Be sure to get in your 60 grams of Protein and take your Vitamins and drink, rather.. sip, lots of Water.

How long are you suppose to stay off? My doctor did not say one way or the other. My surgery had a delay and I got it around 9:00 PM on Friday. One gentleman that had the surgery done the same time I did was going back to work the day his plane got home. Our doctor was one to say if you feel like it do it if it hurts then don't. Did your doctor give you a time frame?

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
