First day of shakes pre op. I wasn't diligent about eating every 3 hours. Got busy taking care of kids and 5 hours passed and I was starving! In the pm I had veggies steamed and another Protein Shake. I fell kinda gross. Hoping this 2 weeks goes fast.

It goes by fast. I got banded Friday, oct 5. Remember that the preop diet is to shrink the liver so that the dr can do the surgery.

And get your gasX ready.

I asked my dr about the gas x strips. She says they don't work. Apparently the as is carbon dioxide and you can't pass it by passing gas. Your body has to absorb it they the tissues, because its in your abdominal cavity, not the tube of your gut, and then you exhale it out. Yet everyone on these boards says gas x works! I've been looking fir the strips buy no pharmacy near me sells them.

I walked and walked the night I got home to pass the gas. Use a heating pad for any pain. SIP your Water. I didn't need Gas-X.

Best wishes

I am now 3 days post op. I am feeling really good. Felt good since i got out of the hospital. I feel like I did about 1000 sit ups and have a tummy full of gas. Been walking up a storm. Gas X and the heating pad have been my friends. I only take my pain med if absolutely necessary. So I usually only take half a dose at bed time.

Worse part, not being able to pick up my doggies! LOL!

I had my surgery on the first. So far no major problems. I'm still sore and have had pain in the right side near my port and today I'm having some pain on the left side. I saw my surgeon yesterday at my first post op and he said I was still pretty swollen that he would have a better idea at my first fill on Nov. 8th if everything is ok still. I'm thinking some of this pain is just gas still but we'll see. I'm just really ready for the mashed/pureed part of the post surgery phase. This liquid diet is for the birds. :P

I was banded last Friday and returned to work the following Monday. This has affected my ability to get rid of all the gas so I'm still uncomfortable. I get to start the purée diet tomorrow - thank god!

I wore a skirt to work today that I haven't been able to wear in about a year! Woohoo!

19lbs lost since preop.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
