Kickboxing, Band Stretching?

Recommended Posts

Is it possible that doing crunches, etc can stretch the band??? I started a 10 week boot camp. Today was Abs...I come home & was able to eat at a normal pace w no problems?

The band doesn't stretch so don't worry about that.

You said you were able to eat at a "normal pace" with no problems. What do you consider normal, and were you expecting something otherwise?

Are you newly banded? Filling out your profile would help us considerably.

Banded 2_28_12 normal pace meaning before the band pace. since the band I eat super slow & even then I can't finish a small portion, which I am fine w & used to at this point.. But tonight it was as if I didn't have the band, i still just a small portion, but I was able to eat fast. Maybe the ab work made it slip? Even drinking Water, I usually have to take small sips, but I was just able to slam glass. Weird

No if you had a slip, it would be harder to eat not easier.

Sometimes bands can be very finicky and unpredictable. Sometimes really tight and you struggle with everything, other times so lose it doesn't even feel like you have a band.

I really wouldn't worry about it. If it continues to feel looser and you find you're hungrier than usual, you might just need another fill. As you lose weight your stomach shrinks, thus making the band looser. It's not uncommon to be in the Green Zone for months then suddenly need a fill because your stomach shrank and the band is no longer filled enough.

Best wishes.

Missy is correct, my surgeon told me the same thing as we lose weight our stomache shrinks, thus the band does get loose.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
