I Dont Feel Like I Have A Lapband!

Recommended Posts

I had surgery sept 6th. I am not feeling any restriction whatsoever. I have 3.8 in my band. I am constantly hungry. I feel like I did before surgery. I think the Protein will help the hungry feeling but what about I consume. I am eating healthy but I feel like I can eat as much as I want. I just don't get it.

the band will eventually help you eat less (with the fills) but its up to us as to what to eat

the Protein is your fuel and its what feeds you.

because we can eat more than a cup of food doesnt mean we should. Portion Control is key, you

are still just a month out and believe it or not, you are still healing. just hang in there.

I was also banded the sept 6. I have no Fluid in my band and I probably won't until mid November. I feel a lot of restriction even without Fluid a few bites and I'm full but what I have to battle with is head hunger. It really gets to me sometimes I have to sit for a while and think "am I really hungry or do I just want to eat?" It's a constant battle but I know if I allowed myself I could eat just as much before surgery. I'd have major problems but I could do it. just try to stick to your cup of food and lots a fluid hang in there

I was banded the 5th. I feel similar to KristinsMommy. Others call it "bandster hell" the time between surgery and when it feels like the band is helping. I can eat the same things, same time of day, and have hunger return at different times. Keep working on the mental aspects of your hunger, truly "listen" to your body, follow your guidelines, and you will do well. I am eating only the 1/2 cup or so, so that I can mentally wrap my head around what I am suppose to do. Hang in there!

I was banded on July 18 & received my first fill on Sept 10. I only received 3cc & am still able to eat more than a cup.

It's definitely a mental thing to stop yourself from eating so much. I just practice Protein first & eat slowly.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
