My band does not like rice ... I have tried it prepared six ways from Sunday and it always gives me problems so I stay away.

A small amount of wheat Pasta is fine for me. I limit myself to 1/4 cup and don't have any trouble. If I eat more then that ... It usually comes back up.

In addition to the calories I think you need to be careful because pasta slides easily... And we forget to chew it.

I'm with Missy. I eat that stuff also on a regular basis. I fix a chicken and rice casserole that is awesome, but a little high in sodium. I need to find some low sodium cream of chicken Soup or learn to make my own. I don't wanna give up my casserole. It is high in Protein and would be good for ya if not for the sodium.

I could not eat rice in the beginning. It was horrible, I can now. I make sure nothing I eat us dry, if it appears slightly dry I will not eat it. That causes me a huge problem.

I eat rice and Pasta without issues as well. Granted I don't eat a lot and I do tend to mix it with my other food. Curry and rice tastes so much more normal than curry on it's own. And no potatoes, rice and pasta are not high in calories although everyone believes they are - it is the stuff that you add to them that is generally high in calories.

I eat rice, Pasta, potatoes, and bread without any problems. I just take small bites and chew to mush.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
