Weight Gain During 6 Month Diet

Recommended Posts

I'm about to have my final of six monthly nutritionist meetings and I've been worried because I've gained weight since the first meeting. Since I started six months ago my work hours have changed, I had a death in the family and I started taking Paxil for anxiety and depression. I'm not trying to make excuses, I have been trying, but it's been especially difficult to even maintain most months.

How will gaining weight over the six months affect my chances of getting approved by insurance? I have BCBS. Anyone have any stories to relate?

The reason I'm trying to get the band is because I obviously need help so im really hoping I don't get denied because of this!

I don't think you have anything to worry about, I have bcbs and I had a 10lbs gain during the nutritionist visits and they approved me right away. No questions asked! I didn't even finish the 6 months visits they approved me with only 4!!

I have BCBS federal and I was not allowed to gain more than 10 lbs during my nutrition visits, I gained 7 during my final one(only had to do 3 month) but they didn't like that so I had to do an extra month. Hope this helps!!

Thanks for your responses! I've been stressing out so badly the past two months that it's been even harder.

I have Aetna, I gained 5 pounds during the 4 months and they denied me because of that. I've heard from another lady who gained like 13 pounds and was approved. I honestly think it depends on your plan and the person who receives your paperwork. Some insurances are picky and will find any little loop hole to not pay for it and others are great. I don't have the same insurance you do, but just thought I would share what happened to me. Take care -Kelly

I have Aenta and I gained 13-14lbs in that 6 month weigh period and I was suppose to lose..but since I quit smoking during the wait..they approved me in less then a week after my paperwork was turned in..if I had not been a smoker they would of denied me and I would of had to loses the 10 plus the 14 I gained b4 I would be approved...each plan is so different with so many little catches..best of luck to you!!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Had a sleeve in 2017, lost over 100 pounds. Had a DS surgery this year (2025) for more sustainable weight loss. 🤞

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
