Is recovery similar to lapband?

Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I997 using LapBandTalk

Ahhhhh. Stones. Thank goodness you now have a diagnosis and a fix! Are you having laparoscopic gallbladder surgery? With all the pain you have been in, recovery from surgery will be easy, compared to that.

The consent form said laparoscopic unless there are complications.

I had a laparascopic gallbladder removal about 10 years ago. The pain leading up to it was excruciating and I feel for you! The surgery is definitely on par with the lap band but I found my lap band recovery to be more painful.

Best of luck and keep us all posted!

I had to have my gallbladder out 25 years ago after loosing 100 pounds. Back then ultrasound wasn't as good. Anyway. I had gallbladder gravel vs stones meaning they are harder to see. You mentioned eating meatloaf that is guarenteed to be high in fat (relatively) which is going to set you off.

I was diagnosed in January, since I was college, I did not have surgery until spring break. I quickly learned that ANY fat gave me an attack which was horrific. I had to completely cut out fat in order to avoid an attack.

Surgery is done...my gallbladder is gone. According to the surgeon it was only functioning at 17%. Going home soon and on the road to recovery. Thanks for all the well wishes!

I think recovery is very similar to the band so far...with the exception of the port pain. I now have 4 more incisions in addition to my five from lapband. It's like deja vu...I just did this 2 months ago!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
