PattyGirl66 1,243 Posted October 4, 2012 I have not spoken to him. I get stuck about 4-5 times a week. I had my last fill 4 weeks ago. I guess if I did not get stuck as often I would not be as scared of the upcoming holidays. Hey hon, yea that is a lot getting stuck that often. You poor thing! From what I understand; Are you taking very small bites and chewing till almost minced in your mouth? If you said yes, then chances are you are too tight and possibly need a small unfill. Don't suffer yourself anymore, get help and I am glad to hear you will be speaking to your surgeon about this. elcee 3,341 Posted October 4, 2012 Isn't this why we chose the band? So we could get adjustments when we felt like it? Wedding coming up this weekend go to Dr get an unfill. Going on holiday get an unfill Girls night out get an unfill Anniversary dinner next week get an unfill Birthday coming up .................................................... I mean this wasn't supposed to be a lifestyle change was it? It wasn't supposed to be about losing weight and keeping it off. 4 ♕ajtexas♕, wallflower, ☠carolinagirl☠ and 1 other reacted to this
marfar7 1,533 Posted October 4, 2012 I would recommend that you get the stuck episodes in control. I was vomiting 4-8 times a week also for the first 2 1/2 yrs - until my band slipped from vomiting too much. I was eating way too fast. I learned to eat fast in Army basic training. If you didn't eat in 5 mins, you didn't eat. Since the slip/unfill/fills/tweaking. my band has never been the same. I no longer use vomiting to get by, day to day. It used to be a normal part of my eating experience. I've even had to pull over my car and vomit on the side of the road. I thought my band was undestructable. Clearly it's not. I've now gained about 16 lbs since my slip. Wish I would've learned how to eat slower earlier... Marci 2 ♕ajtexas♕ and ☠carolinagirl☠ reacted to this
carol285 145 Posted October 4, 2012 First, that is a lot of stuck episodes! I'm glad you are going to speak to your doctor about them. Second, I agree with all the logic mentioned above for all the reasons mentioned above. The band is there to help us feel satisfied with less food, a skill none of us possessed long term with permanent success. I have had a few issues with the learning curve & actually had to have a 1cc unfill this week as a Chest Cold has wrecked havoc with my ability to keep things down. The doctor explained that people don't realize how much mucus goes to our stomachs in our sleep which can block things up. So a bit of an unfill & liquid Mucinex to break up congestion & I am a new person. All that being said I did consider getting a slight unfill once this past August just before our annual family vacation. It wasn't so much for conveinence or a desire to be less vigilant with my eating as the fact that it is a family resort where meals are served "family style" and I was concerned about their cooking methods being band friendly. We all know microwaving is a no-no and I am fairly certain such a place uses one and/or a heat lamp on occasion. It was the lack of control of this that worried me. Ultimately I didn't get any fill taken out & figured I would wing it! Worst case I couldn't eat much of their food and would buy stuff for myself as the room has a refrigerator anyway. I did have one day that didn't go so well and did get sick which surprised me since I ate the same thing I did the day before but I may have eaten fast or not chewed as well since we are with friends and talking more during meals. PS I lost 2lbs on vacation from the controlled eating and more physical activity

wallflower 188 Posted October 5, 2012 No no no, don't do this! It's a slippery slope and pretty soon you'll get unfilled because , "it's my anniversary, birthday, New Years",etc. I can see how it would be tempting but it will just make u sad when u look and see u gained 10lbs 2 DELETE THIS ACCOUNT! and ☠carolinagirl☠ reacted to this

Jean McMillan 2,973 Posted October 5, 2012 No, I wouldn't do it. I've often said that if I had a needle and a bottle of saline, I'd be filling and unfilling myself 20 times a day. One of the reasons I was obese enough to need WLS was that I could rationalize just about any foolish eating behavior. 6 ♕ajtexas♕, DELETE THIS ACCOUNT!, ☠carolinagirl☠ and 3 others reacted to this
Jachut 487 Posted October 5, 2012 No to mention I had to unfill my band for a big surgery and it has never been the same since. I never got back the same restriction even at max capacity. It's much harder to maintain now and the only reason I can was that I faced the lifestyle chance/you need to work the band element very early on and have just sucked up the blunt truth that to be normal weight, you can't let your hair down at every social function. It's just food. It's no big deal if you don't eat it. It's certainly not worth even your time for an unfill, just for a few mouthfuls of something. This oes become habit as you realize once the moment passes, you don't regret not eating something. 5 ☠carolinagirl☠, DELETE THIS ACCOUNT!, Mel32 and 2 others reacted to this
DELETE THIS ACCOUNT! 12,703 Posted October 5, 2012 No to mention I had to unfill my band for a big surgery and it has never been the same since. I've experienced the same. I had my band emptied in August for an emergency surgery (not band related). I've had it slowly added back in since then. Last Tuesday I had the last bit readded to put me where I was before surgery- and was way too tight. I ended up back in 3 days later for a slight unfill. So now I'm less than I was before surgery and mostly in the Green Zone again, but still not like I was before I had the band unfilled for surgery. It seems when you get it unfilled it doesn't refill quite the same way it was. Just my experience. 2 ☠carolinagirl☠ and ♕ajtexas♕ reacted to this
