Esophagram-How Bad Is It?

Hello,

I am 6 months post op and have been going for my monthly fills. I am only up to about 4cc's. I have been having a lot of reflux and night coughs lately and my dr. wants me to go for an esophagram. I am really nervous about it. i have read about the procedure, but i want to know from people who have really had it. How bad is it? is the drink nasty? how much do you have to drink? what if you can't tolerate it?

if you're referring to a barium swallow, then it is an easy, fast procedure. The barium is not anything great in terms of taste, and there are supposed to be two different types of barium depending on what they are looking for. You will be fine.
