Two Weeks Post-Op And I Am Craving Regular Foods :(

Recommended Posts

I am two weeks post-op and I am really craving regular food. I don't think I can eat any more Jell-o, Soup or scrambled eggs! What do I need to do? I don't crave sweets or soft drinks, I crave meat and cheese and once in a while bread. I am down 20 lbs and I feel so much better already, but I feel like I need something more sustaining than mushy food. I slipped today and ate about 1/2 half cup of smashed redskins for lunch and 1/2 cup of weight watchers cheese ravioli. (Tolerated well) I gag with the smell and taste of the Protein Drinks. I tried a Protein shot today and I half way tolerated the smell/taste. Any suggestions? I want to be successful with my band, but I need to know how to battle on days like these.

You are still healing slipping on your doctors order could damage your band and I know you don't want that. So, get back on the post op diet your doctor gave you, drink more Water and if you are still struggling call your doctor. This is the hardest time, but you can do this! You are strong, just keep thinking of the end results. I believe in you!

Hang in there you will be eating solid food soon. You are healing and need to resist.

Don't forget to drink

You are doing really well and it's not surprising that you are craving normal foods at two weeks post op. Not sure of your post op diet instructions, but just hang in there and stick with it for the long term.

Thanks everyone! I know I want this tool to work for me, and I don't want to skip meals, but this is truly Bandster Hell! I'm sure I can do better. Its not about losing right now - I was actually floored that I have lost this much. I just want to be successful in the long term :)

Like the others have said, stick to the prescribed post-op diet plan given to you by your WLS team. The plan is to help your stomach heal, and the point of it is to keep the stomach from churning to avoid future complications.

This is only a short period of time, even though now it seems like it will be forever until you can get back to normal foods. The time will pass quickly.

Hang in there I have already made it through the week of liquids and now im on the week of mush and i know how you feel about the eggs and mashed potatoes. But my diet plan says that at two weeks i am allowed to have soft foods such as fork smushed vegetables tuna fish and foods that are very easily chewed but it all depends on your doctor and the plan they have for you just hang tight you are almost there

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
