I Wish I Hadnt Told A Soul...im Tired

Recommended Posts

I told way to many as well I was so excited! Now I feel im having to prove the lap band works! Everyone thinks I should be dropping this weight over night! They dont understand how it works.

That is a very frustrating thing as well. I wish people would keep their expectations to themselves and worry about their own bodies

I am the opposite. I love people asking how much I lost, what can I eat or not eat and other prying questions. It doesn't bother me in the least. Why should it? I think the band is The best thing since sliced bread and since I hardly eat that anymore the band moved up in line. ;)

Before my surgery I told some close friends and my husband told everyone else. LOL. It was great to have their support and not one person was doom and gloom or rude about it. At work I didn't tell anyone not because I was concerned about it but it's personal and I rarely mix my professional and personal life. I did end up telling my boss a few months after surgery... And I can't actually recall how or why.

If it bothers you or you think it will then Don't say anything. If its too late and the Beans are spilled.... Say... My dr says the weight should come off gradually over a period of 2 1/2 yrs.. Or what ever your number is , that way people won't be expecting you to be thin tomorrow.

Best of luck!

The question I am tired of is "Now that you have lost the weight, why don't you have it removed?" Hello because I want to stay this size not go back to where I was.

Oh, if only I could rewind! I run into folks in the break room and before they speak they take a full body scan.

I'm so sorry! I chose not to tell anyone. Only my husband knows. My kids don't even know. But they are 8 and under.

Good luck! I'm sorry you're getting slammed with this.

I haven't minded telling people about my journey and have only had one person ask me why not just diet. I don't tell everyone, but if it seems relevant I do. I don't participate in a work Breakfast the other morning and I told someone why. I am proud of my choices and I could care less what others think.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
