Should I Get A Fill?

Recommended Posts

I have an appointment for a fill tomorrow but I just don't know if I need one. I can eat absolutely anything and not get stuck. And I'm talking huge bites of food. I go 3-4 hours between meals and I do get hungry but I just can't decide if its head hunger. i eat only 1200 cal per day and losing 2 lbs a week. Should i get a fill?stisticking to

I would say no. If your going that long without eating then you are fine. I am three years banded and I still get hungry. I don't understand the concept that lap band patients have that they won't ever get hungry. Hunger no matter what weight loss surgery you have is the bodies natural response to needing food.< /p>

food isn't supposed to get stuck. The band isn't supposed to stop you from eating anything, it's not it's job.

It's supposed to keep you satiated on less food for longer periods of time.

Are you eating a cup or less of food per meal? 3-4 hours is right on the cusp of how long hunger should be satiated for, so if you do get a fill, I'd get small one so you don't accidentally go too tight.

Best wishes.

I have had 4 fills, am at 4.5 ccs in my band. I feel things are perfect. Not yet seeing the weight loss as fast as I want but still on track according to the dr. I'm going to sit here for as long as I can. I have had a couple stuck episodes but only because of my own stupidity. I haven't yet had a throwing up or pb episode and my goal is to stay that way. Since I don't feel much hunger (until after several hours and even then it's manageable) I feel like this is a good way to stay.

IMO don't get a fill until you feel like you can't handle what you've got anymore. Sounds like you're in a very good place :)

If you work out that the hunger is real hunger and not head hunger then that is an indication you may need a small fill. Best person to discuss all youre feeling is your fill person, based on what you tell them they will advise you if you need more fill.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
