Gaining, Coughing At Night, Slipped A Little

Recommended Posts

2 years post lap band, 4cc band. I lost 40lb, I have 30 more to loose.

My surgeon had a hard time placing the band due to a previous hernia repair, to it's not in perfect position. I do have restriction, but not great. I can eat eggs for Breakfast, sandwich for lunch, and a full supper. If I eat in the evening I cough at night. Do I need to have this band repositioned? I go for a scope in November. Frustrated and loosing hope!

What time are you eating dinner? Are you eating more than 1 cup of food at dinner? Are you measuring and logging in your food? I know I am terrible if I don't log what I eat. (Either I get in a hurry and don't write it down and end up eating more than I should or I eat something stupid.) When I don't write it down, I don't lose weight.

Hopefully the scope will shed some light on your band placement.

meat 1st then vegies, then starch, oh yes! I can eat more than 1 cup, in fact im still hungry after 1 cup, however some day's this is not the case, I get stuck right away, maybe i didnt chew enough and ate to quick. But for the majority Im able to eat well. I don't write and measure, Ive been on weight watchers long enough(in the past) to know what portion and caloric intake im consuming.

You may be surprised at some calorie counts! My fitness pal opened my eyes! Did you know a small milkshake at in & out burger is 580 calories! A frozen margarita is 550! I thought I knew a lot but I was wrong! :-) good luck!

I had the same problems, but when I went for my scope, my Dr. Took out and I have gained 20 lbs. If I had known what I know now I would have told him to leave it in.

What did they find after the scope? How bad was your slip, and did he not offer to fix it?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
