Shackwacky 72 Posted October 4, 2012 My husband is the only person who knows that I have made this decision. And he flipped too, when I first brought it up. Not because he doesn't want me to have the lap band, but because he is afraid of the surgery. Surgery, any surgery, carries risk --- and he is afraid that something will go wrong. Google lap band surgery problems and you get everything from Soup to nuts and then some. We have talked it to death, and while he's still not sold on the idea, he realizes that this is something I need to do and he is doing his best to be supportive. Your BF might surprise you. In any event, I wish you the best, whatever you decide.
nursesweetc 25 Posted October 4, 2012 Sooooo, I finally broke down and told my BF. He is behind me 100% because I told him this is something I really needed and wanted. Yes he was upset that I waited 4 days before surgery but he is okay now. I feel so much better and that has gotten rid of a lot of my anxiety. Thank you guys for the online support. Even though you can't see this but I love you David!!!!! 3 jen_1381, Shackwacky and Back2Petite reacted to this

jen_1381 446 Posted October 4, 2012 Whew! Glad he is being supportive. I had to be careful when I presented it to my husband - I thought about it a while, then told him that this is something that I want to do for ME, and I'm not a selfish person but I need this to hopefully get to a place one day in my life that I'm comfortable in my own skin. I know men are self-conscious also, but telling him that what I saw in the mirror never made me happy, he understood. 1 Back2Petite reacted to this
