where do I get keratin treatments? Don't mean to sound dumb, sorry...lol. I do use its a 10 products and love them. Yesterday I left the deep conditioner on with a cap for an hr and it really helped a lot, I mean a lot. I will wash it again tomorrow as I have a dr's appt and I will have time to do the same thing and leave the conditioner on there for a while before styling. I can't thank all you ladies enough for caring and all your suggestions. Now if I can only get it to grow back out from my stylist cutting the ends off..grrr but she had to do it.

Donna I'm so glad u did the deep conditons...The Orange cap products from It's a 10 are a Keratin line and u can use the conditioner as a treatment..also Paul Mitchell has a Wild Ginger Keratin treatment..this just came out a few years ago and it's a really nice product..but the Salon treatment is usually pricey...they do also have Keratin styling products that are resonably priced

Sarah, have you ever heard of "Sea Salt" treatments? I was at the dentist today and got to talking with the receptionist and well she knew my mom and well we were talking and she was telling me how she had her hair blond last year and now it's Kim Kardashian black which is her natural color and looks great on her but pryor to that she said her hair was fried and she went to a salon in a nearby city (about an hour away from me) and got 3 treatments (separately) where the stylist used something called sea salt treatments and it worked wonders and her hair was as healthy as healthy could be. So I called today and the girl was able to get me in next week for my first treatment, I'm uber excited. Can't you tell. lol

Let us know how it goes. I'm worried about my hair. It's super thick, but I'm afraid that when I lose the weight it might turn to "cotton candy" as I've heard it referred to about WLS patients. I started taking Biotin 5000mg, 2 weeks prior to surgery and haven't missed a day...even after surgery...I didn't care! I'm super scared to have my hair turn to caca.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
